A Carnival of the most orange way


The traditional Carnival of oranges in Ivrea, Italy, born around 1808, it is considered as one of the most ancient in the world, it commemorates the rebellion of the people against the Napoleonic occupation that took place in the 19th century.


In the battle are facing two sides. On one hand, a group of citizens parade in carriages symbolizing the oppression of feudal lords of the time, while on the other side there are citizens going by foot that attack to feudal lords with oranges.

A whole Carnival party that prepares every year, more than 360 tons of oranges for its attendees could revive this tradition.
